BRAVE: This Is Me

BRAVE: This Is Me

On May 5, girls from all over Puget Sound will come to Seattle Pacific University to hear from inspiring speakers and be truly spoiled with free dinner, gifts and giveaways, hair & makeup styling, personal portraits, confidence-building art projects, and more… Attendees will learn of many free resources that are available to them. Girls will hear from keynote speaker Lisa Barnes, from the White Center Salvation Army. Lisa is a former foster child who lived in 35 different foster homes growing up. Lisa tells of being a 12-year-old foster child with a bio mom who was addicted to drugs, and that if she could go back and tell her 12-year-old-self one thing it would be, “you’re not alone.”

After the event, girls will have follow-up care available through the Brave guided journals, and optional follow up from adult female youth leaders. This is a FREE, non-religious event that is all-inclusive. The event is sponsored by Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission and Set Free Ministries.

*A note to parents/foster parents: all volunteers at this event have passed a background check and there will be security at the event, should that be a concern. Also, parents/foster parents are invited to stick around after dropping girls off, to enjoy a space set aside with respite care just for parents. Please let us know if transportation is an issue, and we will see if we can accommodate you.
