Post-Hospital Recovery

Healing from accidents or operations can complicate the process of recovery from addiction and homelessness. With public funding for medical rehabilitation services disappearing, the opportunities for months of intentional recovery care are fading. We help men and women move beyond medical barriers by providing extended medical recovery care.

The Extended Care floor at our downtown Men's Shelter enables homeless men with severe medical issues—including recovery from an accident, illness, or operation — a safe, warm place to stay for 6 months up to a year as they regain their health. They receive peace of mind, spiritual support, case management, and exposure to a community of men being transformed by God's love.

Our women’s program at Hope Place offers Extended Care to homeless women coming out of the hospital after surgery or illness. For women who are able to care for themselves the length of their stay may be up to a year, on a case by case basis. While recovering at Hope Place, they attend a daily community meeting, a Bible study on grace, and meet regularly with a case manager who helps them make additional steps toward wholeness in every area of their lives.
