We encourage a person not to give money and instead donate to an organization such as the Mission who is familiar with the individual and their unique needs and barriers. Instead of giving money, consider engaging the in conversation or offering a smile. You could also ask them what they need money for, and buy them a coffee, sandwich or a bus ticket, if that’s what they need. You might also give them an outreach card that has our (or any other service provider’s) info on it.
